Antique World Map 1850 — Burr, Mercator's Projection
Description
An old world map of the routes to California
David H. Burr drew The world, on Mercator's projection for John Haven of Boston in 1850, and the sheet was made to be read: the routes to California with the distance by each, the routes of navigators, distances to China and Europe. Longitude runs from Washington and Greenwich. Two insets: the Nicaragua route and the contemplated Pacific Rail Road to the bay of St. Francisco. The record names the coloring, not the technique.
